There
were two railroads in Clermont at one time. It can be noted that the Western New York and
Pennsylvania
, a corporation of
New York
and
Pennsylvania
, had its principle office in
Philadelphia
. The Western New York and
Pennsylvania Railroad Company was the result of a reorganization of
Buffalo
,
New York
and
Philadelphia
and the
Buffalo
Pittsburgh
and Western Railroads. This company ran from
Buffalo
,
New York
to Emporium,
Pennsylvania
with a branch through Clermont to Johnsonburg and points beyond.
It was absorbed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1905.
In
addition the Pittsburgh, Shawmut and Northern
Railroad ran
through Clermont.
